ACCESS DENIED
Derby City Council has blocked access to
this site from its computer network. It would
appear that the council is not an advocate of
freedom of information and would prefer people to
be kept in the dark. |

County Council blocked access to certain
"Speed Cameras" pages on this site from
library computers and claimed it was a site of
"criminal skill". A libellous comment
surely? However, following a complaint, Martin

"Dear
Graham Phillips,
Your question (Why have you blocked access to the
Derby Gripe website? Do you not believe in
freedom of information?) has been answered by one
of our specialists, the answer is as follows:
We have not blocked access to the Derbygripe
website"
Regards, Derbyshire Partnership |
Yes,
you have been black listed again. Checked your
site on the DCC computers today and "Speed
Cameras" has been blacked out again. I shall
be complaining to the powers that be once more to
have it reinstated.
I have also received a duplicate letter from the
highways department on the information that I had
requested from them. What idiots we have in such
positions.
Officers refusing to communicate, ticket office
managers duplicating NIPs, highways departments
likewise, and one of the so called partners
blacking out web sites. They are no better than
zombies but have less brains. Alienated |

COUNCIL UNHAPPY WITH THIS SITE
Derby City Council
is unhappy with this site and is considering legal action
because of claims that the connecting Derby scheme has
left the city looking like a 'building site' and other
'libellous comments'. They say the site looks quite
professional and could be very confusing for 'Internet
novices' who may think it's the official DCC website.
They also objected to their logo being used (which was
actually a link to their official site!).
It's interesting to note that as soon as the city council
is criticised, their natural form of defence and initial
response is to threaten legal action. The city council
seem to be blaming this site for showing them in a bad
light. We can't possibly take all the credit for that,
but we do apologise for making the site look professional
and possibly fooling visitors into thinking it is the
official council website. We take that as a compliment,
though surely it wouldn't take too long for anyone to
realise what the site is really all about and it shows
the council don't credit internet users, even 'novices',
with having a very high level of intelligence.
Having said that, the logo has now been removed as it may
not have been immediately obvious as being a link to the
official site, and a disclaimer added just to prevent any
possible confusion in the future. Regarding 'libellous
comments', all of the articles have previously been
published in the media in some form and the rest of the
items have been submitted by like-minded citizens of
Derby, who like us, are surely entitled to their
opinions. Finally, in response to the 'building site'
reference, for two years, the official DCC site home page
actually opened with the words - 'Building Site'.
Incidentally, the design, layout and colour scheme of the
new-look DCC website looks strangely familiar....

Excellent site - very funny and full of
truth. Hope the fat, brainless, out-of-touch, expense
fiddling, gravy train, public-ignoring councillor's take
note of your comments. Steve
Your site was featured on the BBC Radio Derby breakfast
program and the councillor interviewed was obviously
rattled with the truth, he even called you a coward for
not coming onto the program to discuss things with him!!
He complained about the inaccuracies and that the council
will be seeking legal advice, as the site could get
mistaken for the real council site!! I believe a lot of
people agree with your opinions, the council here in
Derby, is on the whole totally incompetent. I remember
the push for the millennium dome!! what a fiasco!! signs
installed everywhere announcing Derby as the millennium
choice!! I could go on and on but I won't!!! Regards. Mike
I am told the latest traffic superproject in Derby is at
the City Hospital roundabout where many sets of traffic
signals are being installed and the island being turned
into a 6 lane highway. Might be worth a look and a
picture and some views from drivers if the congestion
gets worse than before.
Stephen
Are those tossers giving you a problem, mate? Bill
If it wasn't for the council's half-arsed antics, this
site wouldn't exist in the first place. Tommy
They are supposed to be representing the people who voted
for them, not alienating the whole of Derby by their
innane plans. You are right, they don't listen half of
the time and then wonder why people object. Keep up the
good work. Amy
Remember the 'yellow taxi' farce? How can people take
them seriously anymore? Phil
All councillors are the same - they just want power. They
are not in the slightest interested in the views or
wishes of the people of Derby. They promise everything to
get elected and then totally ignore their promises and
continue milking the population in every way they can.
Your 'voting' page sums it all up nicely. Anne
Great site. A lot of truth and some really funny quotes.
The council should have you working on their site. But
then, the words 'truth' and 'funny' don't apply to the
council, do they? Keep up the good work. Long may the
Derby Gripe continue. Taz
All councillors and politicians are hypocrites! Billy
Your site shows just how much crap the city council are
responsible for. Well done. Mick
The city council want Derby to be a top ten city. With
areas in states of dis-repair, boarded-up buildings and
eyesores round every corner, they have a long way to
convince me it will ever happen. They also have a total
disregard for the electorate. Will
Just how many times do the council expect to screw up and
get away with it? They, and they alone are responsible
for the decisions they make and can't blame other people
when things go against them. People have had enough. What
happened to all of the election promises? Good luck. David
Derby City Council's calender only has one date on it -
April 1st..!!!! Gail
Councillors are no different to any other politician.
They crave publicity, but only if it's favourable. They
like the sound of their own voice, answer questions with
questions and can talk for hours - while saying
nothing..!! They are responsible for their actions but
won't admit it. Daniel
I must offer congratulations on your most excellent site.
Every council should (not) have one of these sites! Keep
up the good work, in the words of Lance Corporal Jones,
"They don't like it up 'em Sir!" Regards. Chris
