SHED BURGLARS

Police are hunting a pair of burglars who like to give sheds a spring clean. According to officers, the thieves who visit every shed in a single street, even pick up things off the floor and tidy them away. Two men have been captured on film and officers are seeking to trace them. Shed owners are being warned to step up security measures.

PC Graham Kelsey, crime reduction officer for Chesterfield Police said, "Although some fishing tackle, a compressor and small hand tools have been taken from two sheds, it would appear that the burglars are very particular in what they are after. Normally, shed burglars have the lawnmower, strimmer and electric hedge cutters and flee, having done one shed per street in an area. These two are going down entire streets doing every shed."

At one recent burglary, two men were recorded on a CCTV system going from garden to garden in the early hours of the morning. Officers are seeking to identify the pair. Owners of sheds are being advised to take some precautions to hinder burglaries, such as multiple locks on the door.
