DERBY CITY COUNCIL, COUNTRY
COUSINS, INVITE US ALL TO A PONDER THE
SQUANDER SQUARE DANCE
Derby City Council proves its country
bumpkin status once again! Once more we are
treated to examples of the profligate manner in
which our taxes are used and abused as a
permanent and bottomless purse by the City and
County Councils, both of which have an unlimited
capacity to throw our money down their drains,
the act of which they have been allowed to get
away with for much too long by the electorate.... more

DERBYS DONUTS!
The City Council piles misery upon
misery for the unfortunate souls who voted it in.
The long list of get-rich-quick schemes (for the
few) continues to choke up the City and cause
daily angst for the poor unfortunates trying to
get in and out of the place. I mean dont
mind us mister managing director of an
international investment company, we just
frigging live here.... more

THREE LITTLE PIGS
Isnt it
marvellous? Now, the Cityscape crew and another
developer Hilliers are falling out over riverside
land at the junction of Exeter Street and Derwent
Street, crossing swords because Cityscape wants
to build a hotel on there and so does its rivals.
Every piece of land in the City is up for grabs
to developers and it does not matter if the
development is either wanted or needed by the
City what the developers, aided by their
quislings at Derby City Council, wants, they
get.... more

COUNCIL SMASH AND GRAB
What
is the latest news to come from "smash and
grab" Derby? We are now told that we need a
£33m centre for cyclists. It's all visionary
stuff, with an artist's impression and
enthusiastic comments from vested interests. It's
very similar to the current theme of artists'
impressions and projections for the future, with
the promise of golden opportunities for tourism,
jobs, cultural revival etc.... more

ELVASTON CASTLE - WALL OF
SILENCE
Question:
What can't you see, hear, or touch but you can
feel? Answer: The WALL of SILENCE from ALL of our
elected representatives in local government in
the City regarding the appalling prospect of
having our magnificent Elvaston Castle and
Country Park given away to private developers by
their renegade colleagues at the Derbyshire
County Council.... more

ELVASTON AGAIN!
The
idea that the Labour party might be able to
revive its cloth cap image and join
everyone else in the New Millenium has been
severely dented under the leadership of Tony
Blair. An example of this is present right here
on our own doorstep, with what is rapidly
becoming an albatross around the neck of the
Labour controlled Derbyshire County Council,
namely, Elvaston Park.... more
>>>
OUR LITTLE TONY
In
the same way that the Tory government released
people who were mentally ill, and needed looking
after back into the community, supposedly to aid
their rehabilitation, but, in reality, yet
another cynical cost cutting exercise by removing
the hospitals and institutions used to house and
care for them, Tony Blair continues to spread the
canker amongst the community via a slightly
different route.... more

STAND UP FOR DERBY
The
people of Derby must wake up and be counted if
they are to save the city from going under the
hammer of private speculators. The list of public
buildings that are being lost through ineptitude,
neglect and plunder is growing at an irreversible
rate of knots. Those people who are being conned
into thinking that what is being done here is in
the name of progress are sadly deluded.... more
>>>
SINKING SHIP?
It
looks as though Derby City Council is getting set
to walk out from another of Derby's magnificent
buildings, namely the Council House, before it
falls down on top of them. Under the management
of one administration or another, Derby has gone
from being a fairly dynamic area to an
unco-ordinated urban sprawl, with nothing at the
centre and, most certainly, no-one capable of
administrating the place.... more
>>>
DERBY HAS SOLD ITS SOUL TO
DEVELOPERS
The abysmal record of Derby City Council
in relation to the stewardship of the city of
Derby gets worse with each day that passes. Many
of us can remember Derby as a thriving town with
a bustling centre and busy Morledge open Market,
Cattle Market and Market Hall, and a public
transport system geared up to the needs of its
customers which was readily used daily by many
thousands of people.... more
>>>
THE FURNITURE PROJECT
So,
the Luddites who run Derby City Council have once
more excelled themselves. Intent on carrying out
the systematic destruction of the heritage of the
people of Derby, they are now about to sell off
at least some of the best of the furniture from
St. Helens House. It is about time that we
parted with the oligarchy that comprises the City
Council.... more

DERBY CITY COUNCIL AND A
HOUSING AWARD! A JOKE? - NO, UNBELIEVABLY,
ITS TRUE!
It was reported the other week that Derby City
Council are vying for a housing award which, if
won, could see them providing other city councils
across the country with advice on housing renewal
services. Derby City Council is one of 80
councils nationally which have been short-listed
in the fifth round of the Beacon Council Scheme,
and one of seven short-listed for housing renewal
services.... more >>>
A HAVEN OR A NIGHTMARE?
Derby
City Councils gross negligence in failing
to safeguard the environs of the city for the
residents that it supposedly represents goes
beyond criminal irresponsibility. The city has
become a target for an unquantified number of
developers of various types, each one seeking to
maximise the profits from its endeavours. These
companies are not to blame for the failure of
Derbys political representatives.... more >>>
DERBYSHIRE
HERITAGE IN DIRE PERIL!
It is
a criminal offence to neglect a public listed
building to the point where the fabric of the
building becomes damaged, if not beyond repair,
then certainly close to the point of no return,
where rescue is essential, and where the cost of
which was formerly thousands, has now turned to
millions. Such is the abysmal situation with both
Derby City, and County Councils, regarding
buildings in both the shire, and the city.... more
>>>
TRAFFIC
CENSUS
It
seems that Derby City Council are once more
displaying their single inability to govern
without being pointed in the right direction by
the general public. The barking idea to carry out
a traffic survey at peak times of entry to the
city, lasting from Monday to Friday during which
selected (by whom?) roads into the city will be
coned off and motorists flagged down by the
police and council officials.... more
>>>
CITY
COUNCIL SURVEY
It
has been reported that Derby City Council, in
fulfilling their obligations to the government,
is to carry out a resident's survey to find out
what people think about a range of council
services and life in their area. Independent
consultants will be used to collate the
information gathered so that it can be included
in the annual performance plan summary to be
delivered to every household in the city some
time in the Spring.... more
>>>
PARK, IN PRIDE PARK?
It's
all very well for Derby City Council to pat
themselves on the back and trumpet on about what
a success Pride Park is. As usual with anything
that happens in Derby, the drawbacks are swept
under the carpet in the hope that eventually,
they might disappear. This seems to be the case
with The Pride Park Stadium and the parking
space, or lack of it, there.... more
