Crime Figures
The
latest recorded crime figures show a 60% increase
in soliciting to 1,648.
The recorded crime statistics also show arson up
14% to 60,400 and shoplifting was up 5% to
306,000.
Murders were up 4% to 886, attempted murders up
21% to 858, common assault was up 11% to 226,000
and racially-aggravated common assault was up 10%
to nearly 5,200.
Robbery was up 28% to more than 121,000 incidents
- that included a 31% rise in robbery of personal
property.
The total number of sexual offences was up 11% to
more than 41,000.
Reports of rapes of women were up 14% to more
than 9,000 and those of men were up 11% to 735.
Indecent assaults against women rose by 7% to
nearly 22,000.
Drug offences also up 7% to more than 121,000.
In all, burglary was up 5% to more than 878,000 -
house burglary rose 7% to nearly 427,000 and
aggravated house burglary shot up 14% to nearly
3,500.
Theft and handling of stolen goods was up 6% to
2.26 million incidents.
Criminal damage to vehicles was up 11% to nearly
420,000 offences, theft from vehicles was up 4%
to 655,000 but theft of vehicles was down 4% to
316,000.
Aggravated vehicle taking was up 10% to 11,800
and dangerous driving was up 17% to nearly 6,200.
