A DEMOCRACY WITH NO DEMOCRATIC POWER

We aren't allowed to choose our judges, police chiefs or officials, they’re appointed for us. Our politicians are not accountable to us as our elected MPs (Members of Parliament) are controlled by their political party, based in London. Rarely do they get a “free vote”.

The House of Lords is not only unelected but also politically “fused” to the House of Commons. Our unelected head of state is preordained to rule over us. Constitutionally, we are just her "subjects", not citizens, and our government is actually “Her Majesty’s Government".

The class system is still alive and very well - the civil service and armed forces, for example, are still dominated by upper to middle-class private-school educated snobs. We have no effective constitution. But we do have “constitutional experts” who interpret old documents for us, which is very nice of them.

We have no real freedom of information here either. If we want to find out information, we visit America. We have the most repressive censorship laws in the western world and an unelected board of censors who protect us from “obscene” material, which is also nice of them. We have no right to self-protection. We are meant to know our place, i.e. be a good victim and don’t make a fuss.

We have a judicial system which has contempt for natural justice. The average sentence for murder here is about 15 years. Even though the population would support the death penalty (especially for particularly vicious crimes), our liberal and political elite forbid it. What little democratic power we as a country do have is now being eroded by a superstate ruled by bureaucrats in Belgium.
