PUBLICATION
BAN
Maxine Carr has been granted an
indefinite order protecting her new identity by
the High Court. The new order, granted by Mr
Justice Eady, was not contested by the media. Mr
Eady said it was necessary to protect "life
and limb" as well as Carr's psychological
health.
The order bans publication of any details which
could reveal her new identity, including any
description of where she lives or the nature of
her work.
Earlier, Carr's lawyer Edward Fitzgerald QC
argued such an order was justified on the grounds
laid down in the previous cases of child killers
Jon Venables and Robert Thompson and Mary Bell,
where similar permanent injunctions were granted.
He said, "There is a real and significant
risk of injury or of worse, killing, if this
injunction is not granted." |

CRIME PAYS 2
Unlike most other people in Britain, Maxine Carr
won't have to live in fear of burglars or break-ins at
her new home, because she will be afforded the kind of
protection only available to members of the royal family.
Or people who have given succour to the high-profile
killers of children. Thanks to a draconian court
injunction, anything that Maxine Carr does from now on
will not be able to be reported by the TV and the press.
If she ingratiates herself with an unsuspecting family,
we won't be able to report it. If she takes a job working
with children or young people, we won't be able to say
so. If she reverts to the lying, cheating ways, that got
her into this mess, that, also, will have to remain a
secret. If, where she does live, she is recognised and
becomes the subject of an attack or an incident, we won't
be able to report that, either.
The Home Office says this is so that her supervision
order for a string of benefit frauds can be implemented
safely. The real reason is because too many people in the
places where it counts believe the rights of criminals
should supersede the rights of the law-abiding majority.
But why should we be interested in all this? Well, I'm
interested because I've seen nothing, no report or
evidence that's convinced me she's mended her lying,
deceiving ways.
A top lawyer said the injunction must have been made
because the court had been convinced that there is
"no other imaginable way" of protecting Maxine
Carr. Garbage. There is another way. The time-honoured
way, in fact. Maxine could have elected to do the whole
of her time to prove her contrition, if, indeed she has
any. She could have made fulsome and private apologies to
the parents of Jessica Chapman and Holly Wells, for the
lies she told that delayed the discovery of their
murdered bodies.
She could have made it known, through her fawning
lawyers, that she would never seek to profit from their
deaths by selling her story. She could have said she was
sorry. As far as I can make out, none of this has
happened. She is constantly referred to as the
"third victim of Ian Huntley". This is as
insulting to the memories of Holly and Jessica as it is
incorrect.
Maxine chose to remain with Ian Huntley. She chose to
lie. And, ultimately, those lies led her to Soham and
into a position of trust that was exploited by a
ruthless, vicious man. Maxine is not a victim, she is a
hate-figure. And far from helping her to rehabilitate
herself, this court injunction will ensure that this is
what she will always remain. (Source: This is Bournemouth)
Maxine Carr wants to leave Britain and move
to Switzerland or Holland. Once there she expects:
* A
fully-furnished three-bedroom house.
* An allowance
of £30,000 a year, compensation for the fact she has
had to leave the country.
* All her
household bills paid.
* Four flights
home a year, and free flights for her friends and
family to visit her.
The Home Office are seriously considering
her demands after a police source said, Officers
made it only too clear to the Home Office that looking
after Carr is an absolute nightmare. She is under
constant threat of attack by vigilantes wherever she goes
and she is also a danger to herself. The constant threat
of attack has taken its toll on her and is a constant
worry for officers. It was recognised by both the police
and the Home Office that the court order that was put in
place to protect her has not helped. It has made the
public more angry and made her more prone to
attacks. They seem to be the only ones surprised by
all this. The bill for protecting her throughout her
lifetime is expected to top £50million. She later said
she would consider a move to Spain.
