| This
site will no longer be updated. Apathy has
finally taken over. Winners don't quit and
quitters don't win but there comes a time to know
when to give up. The "Gripe" was never
intended or expected to make any difference in
what's happening, merely to raise awareness. It's
become clear that this country is a lost cause.
Run by self-centred, greedy, lying politicians
who are only in it for their own benefit and what
they can get out of it. They don't give a toss
about Joe Public. So, after several years
collecting and adding articles to this site, it
will now remain as an archive, athough new items
will continue to be added periodically to the
Facebook and Twitter pages as well as the mobile
version of the site - if anyone cares! |

CHRISTMAS
MARKET A FLOP
Stallholders
at Derby's Christmas market say they have been
disappointed by the small number of shoppers
since they opened at the beginning of December.
No advertising, a poor location and a lack of
festive decorations have been blamed. Traders
paid hundreds of pounds in rent for a three-week
pitch in Cornmarket but some say they have lost
money because of the low footfall. Since opening
on December 1, around five traders have packed up
their stalls because of a lack of business.... more

FIRST
STEPS TO SAVE HIPPODROME
City
architects' firm Lathams has been appointed by
the Hippodrome Restoration Trust to carry out an
options appraisal on the Grade II-listed
building. It is hoped that an expert study into
how the former Hippodrome theatre might be
brought back into use could help secure the
future of the badly damaged building. The trust
says that if the findings of the study are
positive then it will work to acquire the
building. The Hippodrome Restoration Trust has
been putting pressure on Derby City Council to
use its powers to compulsorily purchase the
building.... more

£3M
PROJECT TO REVITALISE PARK
Derby City
Council is working on a £3 million project to
revitalise Markeaton Park and is looking for a
company to come up with ideas. The work will
include improvements to the historic gardens, the
stable block and craft village, the lake and
ponds, footpaths and Mundy Play Centre. The
council is also preparing what it calls "an
activity plan" which sets out what
activities will be available, such as learning
about the park's heritage and volunteering and
training opportunities, so people can get
involved in using and running the park.... more

EAGLE
CENTRE MARKET OR GUILDHALL MARKET MAY CLOSE
Derby City Council's yearly
rental income from Eagle Centre and Guildhall
markets has been reduced because not all the
stalls are occupied. The council stressed that
closing a market was only one of the options. In
a council meeting, the authority's chief
executive, Adam Wilkinson, said the authority was
considering the sustainability of having two
markets and looking to reduce the amount of space
for market stalls in the city. Stalls in the
Eagle Market could be grouped closer together to
make it look busier and attract more trade.... more
